The Ave Maria Hour - Old Time Radio

The Ave Maria Hour

Originally created, produced, and presented by the Brown Friars of Graymoor, The Ave Maria Hour tradition has been carried on by the Franciscan Brothers of the Atonement. The program enacted stories of the lives of Catholic saints, played religious music, and the friars said novenas in the afternoon with accompanying choir and organ music.

The well-liked program won a Golden Bell Award, which was presented by Ed Sullen on a live television broadcast in 1959. The Ave Maria Hour first aired in 1935 and concluded in 1969.

Director: Father Patrick McCarthy
